I'd call it: Boots

whoo-hoo!  The original Painted Boots
Have you ever seen a really great pair of cowboy boots?  The cool ones are scuffed, scratched and worn--the more, the better.  The people I know who own cowboy boots have every pair they've ever owned, from childhood up.  I think cowboy boots, more than any other article of clothing, collect the stories of their owners.  Maybe that's why they're so hard to part with!

I'd call it: Hello, Buzz event

the vintage earrings & the fabulous mug!
Hello everyone,
The Buzz Event for Painted Boots is underway!  Those of you participating in the rafflecopter may be interested in the give-aways.  Besides the copies of the ebook and paperback (which will not be out until August, BTW), I'm giving away one pair of vintage earrings (hand-made sterling silver, circa 1978) and a mug featuring white flowers and song lyrics.  Just the kind of stuff Aspen in Painted Boots loves to collect!

Enjoy!

I'd call it: Grabens Rock

So grabens are created when stone, sitting atop a large underground salt field, begins to collapse due to the salt disintegrating.  Some of the coolest grabens in the world can be found in southern Utah.  From the air they almost look like huge depressed piano keys.

I like that the grabens are formed by something you'd least expect.  How many people know there are miles of salt under huge portions of southern Utah?  I didn't.

In writing, as in geology, some of the most interesting twists and turns in a personality are those coming from the least expected place.  Character flaws!  I lose good sleep at night searching them out . . .
