Have you ever seen a really great pair of cowboy boots?  The cool ones are scuffed, scratched and worn--the more, the better.  The people I know who own cowboy boots have every pair they've ever owned, from childhood up.  I think cowboy boots, more than any other article of clothing, collect the stories of their owners.  Maybe that's why they're so hard to part with!
